                                                                Magnesium Fluoride

1.Magnesium fluoride (MgF2) is a colorless tetragonal crystal or powder with a rutile lattice. Odorless, insoluble in water and alcohol, slightly soluble in dilute acid, soluble in nitric acid. The relative density is 3.18, the melting point is 1248°C, and the boiling point is 2260°C. It shows weak purple fluorescence when heated under electric light, and its crystal has good polarization effect, especially suitable for ultraviolet and infrared spectra.
